seasons #1

seasons #1 is a set of paper contours symbolically representing the seasons mounted on a dc motor. when activated, the paper contours spin slowly, quickly, or both- resulting in a jerky motion. the piece is rather simple in intent. it aims to playfully reify the passage of time and give a sense of control over the speed and duration of motion. in short, the sculpture contemplates how time can change pace quite randomly in terms of our subjective experience of it.

every tear i’ve ever cried

every tear i’ve ever cried is an experiment in dripping metal to make form and engages with the idea of emotional repression in both a sincere and tongue-in-cheek way. the piece is, of course, almost entirely contingent upon the caption to convey it’s message and becomes, therefore, a primarily textual work. however, the tears being represented by metal gives them a certain permanence and physical presence which highlights their existence over the rather small and unassuming handwritten text.

pentagonal stool

the pentagonal stool is exactly what it sounds like. and yes, you can stand on it.
